Become a Volunteer

Volunteers are behind everything we do and we have a job for everyone!

Join the Fun at Our Choice Pantry
Support our Choice Pantry efforts on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Your mission? Greet and sign in our awesome neighbors, guide them through our space as they shop, and help sort and pack groceries for a smooth distribution. This is a great job for individuals who love interacting with people.

Be a Homebound Hero
Our homebound heroes pack food to be delivered to homebound neighbors with care and efficiency and makes it possible for those who can’t visit the Pantry to have access to fresh healthy food.

Help the Pack and Bag Brigade and Stocking Superstars
Love to help but like to keep to yourself? We have shifts throughout the week for volunteers to help pack up nonperishable items for neighbors and stock our shelves.

Assist with Large Food Donations
Want a workout? We get large food donations by the truckload each day and our volunteers unload and sort it all.

Have Your Team Want to Make a Difference
Does your work group, organization, church group, or friend group want to volunteer together? We welcome small groups to come during slower times in the Pantry and help with a variety of projects. This is a great opportunity to bond while giving back to our community.

Current Volunteers

Volunteers at the Worthington Resource Pantry make an incredible impact and nothing we do would be possible without their help.

Our volunteers donated 21,782 hours of service last year - an impact of $752,568. They sorted 1,945,406 pounds of food, making it possible to provide 1,439,734 meals to 124,655 neighbors. We welcomed volunteer groups from faith organizations, businesses, schools, and community groups.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Complete the online application for adults or youth located above. If you do not have access to the internet, you may contact the Pantry by phone and we will send you an application. Once we review your application, we will contact you about your areas of interest and how to schedule your volunteer time.

  • All assignments must be scheduled in advance on the electronic scheduling platform, WhenToHelp.com so that we can plan for volunteers to complete needed tasks. New volunteers will be emailed instructions for creating an account and signing on to WhenToHelp.

  • We welcome groups! Email us at info@worthingtonresourcepantry.org for more information.

  • Youth must be between 14 – 17 years of age to volunteer at the Pantry by themselves. The child and parent must complete and sign a volunteer application. Youth under the age of 14 are not allowed to volunteer without prior approval.

  • Due to the limited space and safety concerns, adult volunteers are not permitted to bring their children to the Pantry during the adult volunteer’s shift without prior approval.

  • If you are working with neighbors, we ask that you wear comfortable, casual clothes. Wear supportive shoes as you may be on your feet most of your shift. We require closed-toed shoes (e.g. NO sandals, flip flops, or open-toed high heels). Because of the continuous lifting and repacking, we also recommend not wearing loose jewelry like rings, watches, or necklaces. You may also want to wear layers because temperatures in the building vary.

  • We are located at 6700 Huntley Road near the northeast corner of Huntley and Schrock Road.
